Question: My wife has regular IRA account in bank that her previous employer used to offer.Please read inside?
2 years ago my wife rollover her IRA money to regular bank IRA account.When we did our tax returns we got a statement from the bank about her money in her IRA account.I am not sure she supposed to get that statement every year from the bank for tax form purpose and she didn’t got it yet.time is running out for tax deadline.we are confused.should we contact bank or she is not supposed to get statement every year?
Answer: If she did not put any money in or take any money out during 2009, then you do not have to report anything for this year.
You should still get a 5498 for informational purposes but it is not a required tax filing document for most people.
